What’s new for the 2025 Genesis G80?
The Genesis G80 features updated exterior and interior styling. Outside, it wears new front and rear fascias with a new grille design, plus updated headlights and new wheel designs that fit over newly standard 4-piston front brake calipers. Inside, you’ll find an updated cockpit and a new three-spoke steering wheel design.
The G80 wears the signature Genesis shield grille, which sounds tacky but actually works quite well, flanked by the brand’s “two-line” headlights that have been updated with micro lens array technology for 2025. These lights offer improvements in terms of both illuminating dark spots and reducing glare that impairs other traffic.
The cabin is lovely, with finely stitched leather upholstery and tasteful metal and wood trim. A 27.0-inch display combines a digital instrument cluster and infotainment. The G80 features heated and power-adjustable front seats, with available power comfort upgrades and premium quilted leather. The two rows have four adult-size seats, though the Electrified G80 makes some compromise in rear passenger and cargo space for the battery.
The Genesis G80 comes standard with all-wheel drive across the lineup. A 2.5-liter turbo-4 comes standard in the 2.5T version, paired with an 8-speed auto transmission and rated for 300 hp. Next up is the 375-hp 3.5T, featuring a twin-turbocharged V-6 and boasting a roughly five-second 0-60 mph sprint. Then there’s the Electrified G80, checking in at 365 hp and a hefty 516 lb-ft of torque thanks to its dual-motor EV powertrain, although it’s heavier than the turbo gas models.
Adaptive dampers, road sensors, and rear-wheel steering meet up in the 3.5T and the Electrified versions to adjust to road conditions on the fly, though the ride may sometimes be too harsh for cruising and too soft for ambitious drivers.
The 2025 G80 earns NHTSA’s five-star overall safety rating. It hasn’t yet been tested by the IIHS, though the 2024 model earned the Top Safety Pick+ accolade. Genesis includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, and semi-autonomous highway driving assist.
